This weekend was full of emotion changes, with Red Bull, McLaren and Mercedes having a chance to win. The most surprising team was certainly Ferrari. Both Ferraris were out in Q2, and Charles Leclerc had an engine problem which made him one second and a half slower.
The race start was rainy, everyone opted for inters except the Haas cars which were on wets. Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg gained huge advantage with these tyres, going up to P4 and P8 respectively. Unfortunately for Haas, Kevin Magnussen’s pitstop was very slow, and that led to everyone Magnussen overtook overtaking Magnussen back.

Sergio Perez and Pierre Gasly made contact, but there was no further investigation.

Lando Norris’ pace was strong, overtaking both Max Verstappen and George Russell to take the lead.

In lap 25, right as Norris had a gap of 11 seconds to Verstappen in P2, Logan Sargeant crashed. He spun and touched the wall slightly. Safety car was out, as Sargeant got out of the car.

This safety car was crucial for Lando Norris, who pitted one lap after the others. This late pit resulted in him being third.
Ferrari, on the other hand, decided to go for a completely different strategy. While it was raining, and the track was declared wet, they put on hards for Charles Leclerc. He fell into the last place, and he later retired from the race.
Alex Albon had an amazing double overtake, which could be the best overtake I have seen in a while.

When the track started to dry, Verstappen and Russell pitted in lap 46. Norris, however, waited one more lap. The pit exit was very close, as Verstappen and Norris came side by side. Unfortunately, Norris lost the control of the car for a few seconds, which led Verstappen to take the lead.
Russell overtook Norris, but Norris passed him back when he made a mistake.
In lap 52, Sergio Perez lost the rear of the car and crashed. One of his tyres blew and the rear wing was broken. Red Bull told him to continue, as the crash would bring the safety car out. This might have effected Verstappen’s victory, so Red Bull decided to not follow the rules, and sacrificed Perez to make Verstappen win. As a result, Sergio Perez got a three place grid penalty for the upcoming race for driving with an unsafe car.

Just as Perez crashed, another incident happened. This time it was Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon. Sainz spun in front of Albon and even though Albon tried to avoid Sainz, he couldn’t succeed. Albon didn’t continue and stopped the car. Sainz went into the garage and retired.

This brought another safety car, and Mercedes decided to pit both cars hoping to win. Both Russell and Hamilton managed to get ahead of Piastri.
In lap 66, Yuki Tsunoda went off the track, got in a small puddle, spun and stopped in the middle of track. Kevin Magnussen avoided the RB with insane reflexes.

With two laps to go, Russell overtook Hamilton, taking away the podium from the seven time Canadian Grand Prix winner.
In the end, Max Verstappen won again after a action-packed race. Lando Norris was chosen the driver of the day, but who was your driver of the day?
